This was Foldees' first contest run when we start the site up in 2008. Because we needed a variety of cards to kick start the site, we decided on the general theme of "We Are All Geeks", which basically encouraged designers to submit designs based on anything in geek culture.
As a result, we received cards that played on themes as varied as Star Wars, Facebook, Defragmenting and even motherboards. While the contest was only advertised to Malaysians (where Foldees was born and now currently resides), we received entries from as far as Japan, US and the Philippines thanks to the wonders of word-of-mouth and helpful bloggers everywhere. All in all, we received over 200 submissions, which we cut down to 70 for the final count.
